About

WHY THE OCEAN

The ocean is the greatest “lung” of our planet.

The oceans produce about 70% of the oxygen we breathe and capture 55% of global carbon emissions.

Blusink maximizes carbon capture capacity on seafloors, by stimulating wild macroalgae calcification. Our breakthrough technology provides an unprecedented cost-effective nature-based solution for the future of the carbon market on coastlines where socioeconomic barriers to effective ecological restoration are a top priority.

HOW IT WORKS

Our biogenic material is the perfect settlement substrate for free-floating coralline algae larvae in the oceans.

We deploy these material discs on the seafloor, aiming for homogeneous cover where possible. All kinds of marine organisms begin settling and thriving on the discs, each one a biodiversity hotspot.

Coralline algae especially love this material and begin carbon uptake via dual pathways of photosynthesis and calcification into pink rocks known as rhodoliths.

Rhodolith beds are one of nature's most powerful carbon sinks. The carbon uptake process is quantified through our in-house MRV processes and Blusink is working towards partnerships to establish new certification methodologies for our novel technology.
